About Us
We
have been hand making our items for 25 years. Our
items are handmade, each one is cut or carved separately.
The fretwork is done with Scroll Saws, it gives us the
control for the very fine intricate cutting we need to do on
our pieces. Cuts are made completely through the wood.
We use hardwood for all our items in a variety of
hardwoods, Oak, Maple, Black Walnut,
Poplar, Mahogany, Red Ingram (willow). We also use
many types of exotic woods from around the world.
For some of our items that have cuts that leave the item
very fragile, we use Baltic Birch Plywood. The Plywood is a high
quality ply with many layers to give it strength. The
plywood is then adhered to a wood back. Using the
plywood and a backing makes the picture cut outs in the
plywood really stand out. We offer the service of
personalizing items also, most items can be personalized or
the pattern for it can be customized for it to be
personalized.
The
Intarsia items are far more advanced than the scroll work,
although a scroll saw is used to cut out the pieces used for
intarsia, the cuts must be much more accurate, since the
pieces have to fit together. All the edges are rounded and
then fit together. Each color is a piece cut from a
different type of wood, no stain is used. The finished
piece can have up to a few hundred different pieces.
The pieces are also shaped for different heights. This
adds to the 3D effect.
Our
carvings are hand carved, they are one of a kind items. We
use many different mediums to carve with, we use Basswood,
Poplar, weathered wood, driftwood, Cypress Knees, Diamond
Willow, most of the hardwoods and exotic woods and many
other types. We make a number of different items such
as wall hangings, shelves, desk items, clocks, signs, napkin
holders, key racks, mug racks, canes, walking sticks, wood
spirits (carvings), etc. We also have items in many
different categories, animals, western, native American, use
items, sayings, home, business, etc. Our items are
finish in high gloss, we use spray lacquer, Tung Oil, wiping
gels or clear Shellac.
